Annual Coaches Meeting Notes 2011

First and foremost I want to Thank you very much for being here, without you folks this league would never happen.

Tonight’s Coaches Actions

  1. Pick up equipment.
  2. Pickup their rosters and call your players this week.
  3. See one of the Board Members to select Practice field and times (Recreational u10 / u12 Cannot practice on Tuesdays)

Team Management

  1. Go over the roster info. Contact players in next two days, players blacked out are unpaid, coaches will get their info once they pay.
  2. CYSA no longer accepts special requests.

Rosters cannot be changed after they have been created by the database.

  3. Practices can begin now but don't have to. Contact players even if not beginning practice until later in Aug.
  4. Find an assistant coach if you don't already have one. They must register, register, register, even if only helping out one time. Parent helpers must register.
  5. Important to let Director of Registration know if a player drops from a team so they can be replaced. Coaches cannot just add new players to their roster. Players must register and be assigned to the team that needs them. NO non-registered child (i.e. friends, siblings) can participate in practices. By doing so coaches risk their insurance coverage through the association.
  6. Only the President can cancel games for weather. Coaches cannot call each other and agree to cancel games. Unless coach receives a call/email from the league canceling game they should be there.
  7. Raffle tickets given out with uniforms in late August. They are already paid for so coaches do not collect any money. Parents keep any money that they get from selling tickets to others.
  8. Combine practices with other teams, makes life easier on everyone, more kids easier to run exercises and scrimmages.

Dir. Of Coaching - Make copies of meeting documentation for each coach. Including this document (without the Meeting Prep information), Important Dates Sheet and Coaching schedule and lesson plans for coaching day. Also require a complete listing of all registered coaches and assistants (everyone in the risk database) by team if available for each age group.

Dir of Registration - Print a (2 copies one for coaches and one for the league for reference) regular roster and a medical roster for each team, so coaches are aware of any medical issues with players. Attend coaching meeting to answer questions that arise

Director of Equipment – Need equipment on site to hand out to coaches - balls, cones, med kits, etc.
